The beginnings of the hostel date back to the end of the 19th century, when a small shelter was erected for forest workers. In 1912 the building was transformed into a hostel, which in German was referred to as "Rodelhütte". In the 1920s it was enlarger by the "Beskidenverein" by adding, among other things, a porch and an untypical room in the shape of a rotunda.
