The temple was probably initially constructed in the 13th or at the beginning of the 14th century. Damaged by a flood in the mid-15th century, it was rebuilt in 1455 in pine wood by a carpenter by the name of Mączka, as commissioned by the former highwayman, Maciek Konita. The church was damaged in a fire in 1687 after being struck by a thunderbolt. The present-day church was completed in 1690.
